Unique Wedding Ideas

Are you bored with the classic wedding traditions? Do you want to decorate the venue with huge lollipops? Or do you want to create a “Game of Thrones” inspired wedding?

DO IT! That’s what being an #authenticbride is all about!

Unconventional Wedding Ideas

Don’t let anybody make you feel bad for wanting your wedding to be different than everybody else’s.

Old traditions and conventional ceremonies are not suitable for every couple. And that’s ok.

But, the big question is: What do YOU want to do?

You can keep some of those old wedding traditions if you want. But, only those that you and your fiance are really looking forward to.

Wedding Ceremony

The most important part of a wedding is the ceremony. It’s when you are legally married.

But, more and more couples are opting out of a religious ceremony.

And that’s totally ok!

No matter what anybody else thinks. Don’t let the opinions of friends or family ruin the wedding you and your fiance want.

This option offers the chance to be more creative and decide where you really want to get married.

Let’s say you want to get married in the garden that you had your first date or right on the beach.

The wedding ceremony does not have to be at the same location as the reception.

It’s totally possible! Let your imagination run wild.

Budget Wedding Venue

Wedding Venue

When you are planning a non traditional wedding, you are not looking for the usual wedding venues.

You want something that will match your authenticity. Something special.

There are amazing alternative venues out there, when you start thinking outside the box.

For example, you can organize the reception at the restaurant or the bar you first met. Maybe you want to have a lovely picnic in the backyard of a friend’s house.

If you want to add your own touches, create your own décor. Now, close your eyes and imagine your ideal venue.

Authentic Bride Guide Tip: Want to incorporate a special restaurant in your big day? My hubby and I had our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date.

Wedding Dress

Whether your wedding is traditional or not, you may want a non-traditional wedding dress.

It doesn’t have to be long and white with a veil and train.

It can be blue and short, black and poofy, a red pantsuit…you get the idea.

Who says you have to wear a dress that looks like every other bride out there on YOUR special day?

You don’t need to visit a bridal boutique. There are thousands of options out there.

Check out boutique clothing websites for dresses with a twist. You might end up finding wedding dress of your dreams AND save some money.

Spice up your traditional wedding dress with some authentic accessories.

How about pink shoes? A flower crown? A purple belt?

Your options are endless. Incorporate what you like and who cares what anybody else thinks!

Wedding Cake

Everyone loves cake! If you and your partner don’t want an elaborate three tier cake, create your own style.

Visit your local bakery and ask for something small, but creative.

If cake is not your favorite dessert (say what?!) you can always offer alternative options like cake pops, brownies, pie, macarons (yes, please!) or even doughnuts.

On the other hand, if you want to serve something more savory, you can have a “cake” made from various types of cheese. It’s the perfect side dish for wine.

Food and Drinks

Be sure to treat your guests with a meal to remember.

If you don’t want (or your wedding budget doesn’t allow) the traditional three-course meal, serve something that you really love to eat and you know will be a hit with everybody.

Options like pizza, pasta, or a taco bar are unique ideas.

As for the drinks, skip the champagne toast and choose a wine from Costco, beer, or a signature cocktail.

Besides, alcohol is always welcomed. Especially when you have dozens of single friends at your wedding.

Authentic Bride Guide Tip: Consider hiring your favorite local food truck to cater the event!
